The idea that you are here to learn a lesson is one of the most repeated lines in spiritual circles. It is mostly wrong.
Some events in your life are predetermined. Your soul is set to experience them, and they will come. In that narrow sense there are things you are meant to go through. Calling them lessons, though, implies a teacher, a curriculum and a pupil who needs correcting.
You are a fragment of the divine. You do not need to be taught. The longer answer, including what is usually going on when the same pain keeps returning, is in why you are not here to learn a lesson.
